Luggage Tags

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”― Mark Twain

Wherever the winds take you go in style!!!  One of my newest projects are these homemade luggage tags. Here is the link to the pattern This was my first project using clear vinyl.  I was nervous about it at first but had no trouble.  Just make sure you use a foot on the sew machine for vinyl so there is no sticking and have a nice sharp needle.  I love they way they turned out, I have made several as gifts.

Coin Purse

A beautiful day spent sewing. Today's project was a coin purse. I found the pattern in a magazine titled 101 Patchwork Projects and Quilts. I found it a very easy project that any beginner could do. I adapted the project slightly to add a metal clip. I will be using this new coin purse to hold my pool pass on to my bag for water aerobics.

John and Julia's Dinning Room Curtains

Here are the steps I took to sew John and Julia's Dinning Room Curtains:

 1. Work out pattern (had some help from Jane Austen)

 2. Cut and hemming sides of panels.

3.  Sew and adding tabs evenly along top.

4.  Hang and hem bottom.
5. Enjoy!!!

Dog Gate

This is Darla and Marne my K9 nieces 😊 my latest project was a new custom gate for them.  It keeps them from getting into trouble while their mom and dad are at work.  Its just heavy canvas fabric sewn with elastic hooks.  The elastic hooks attach to screws on the wall.  Its took a few modifications to get it just right.  I had to sew three pockets, one on each side and one at the very bottom to hold a rod.  This made it strong enough they cant push under it.  I think they are contained now but they are very smart girls so we will see....ha-ha.

J and J's Kitchen Curtain

A new little project, two curtain panels for J and J's new home.  They are lined on the back with a solid white.  I like to do this to unify the view from outside with the rest of the windows in the home.  Its a cleaner look from the outside.

John and Julia's Housewarming Gift

John and Julia's Housewarming Gift

I made this pillow (blue with white stars)with quilt squares already sewn by Julia's grandmother.  Her grandmother (who was a hand quilter) recently passed away and these squares were left.  I sewed them together and made a pillow out of them.  I think the quilt squares have found the right home at John and Julia's new place.  :)
