Cardinals Pillow

This is my sisters birthday present, a cardinals paper pieced pillow.  Its a Mary Herschleb Designs pattern that I adapted in top a pillow that measures 16"X16"

I love paper piecing.

Mats and Tara's Quilt

This is the quilt I made my sister and brother-in-law for Christmas 2012. I followed instructions from Better Homes and Garden Easy Quilt Projects Book, starting on page 11.   I choose fabrics in yellow and gray to match my sister's living room.  The back is a solid light grey with the binding a darker gray.  It's finished measurements are 72"X88" and each block in 8".

I really enjoyed sewing this quilt.  Here are a few pictures from the sewing process:

Playing Field Blanket

This blanket I recently completed was made for my Aunt Pat.  She gave it to her son, my cousin Steven, who is a large Boston Bruins Hockey fan.  It was made from a Robert Kaufman Kit.  I made a few adjustments in the corners to add the Boston Bruins decals.  I think it turned out very well.  He seamed to really like it on Christmas morning.

Christmas Tree Paper Piecing

Recently I took a paper piecing class at The Quilt Patch a quilting store here in my hometown Tecumseh, MI.   I have fallen in love with paper piecing.  Below is a picture of my first project that was done in class.  I found it so easy and in the end you get a beautiful and detailed picture. Plus bonus you can use up all those little scrap pieces of fabric.  I ordered new patterns as  soon as I got home from class.  I can't wait to start my next project :)

Upcycled Pillow

Today I made an upcycled project at my sisters house.  I took an old ripped kitchen towel and made a beautiful new pillow.  I simply cut off the ripped part of the towel then cut 2 squares.  In this case the squares were 17 inches because I was covering a 16 inch pillow.  Then I sewed around the pillow leaving an opening to insert the pillow.  Finally hand stitch the pillow closed.  How do you think it turned out?
